We had been waiting for that trip for almost a year.
My husband, Robert, and I were both already in our seventies, and in recent years we rarely traveled long distances.
But our children kept telling us,
“You can still travel. You spent your whole lives living for everyone else. Now live a little for yourselves.”
And finally, we agreed.
We boarded a nighttime tour bus that was supposed to take us through the mountains to a small resort.
At first, everything was wonderful.
People were talking.
Some had fallen asleep.
A young couple in the back seats were quietly laughing.
I even took a picture of the two of us.
