Daniel quietly removed his wedding ring and placed it on the table.
“I hope she was worth losing me,” he told Mark before walking out.
I looked at my husband of 31 years.
“My attorney will contact yours. I’m filing for divorce.”
Mark begged for counseling, insisting we could repair our marriage. But I was done. He had mistaken our long history for a guarantee that I’d forgive him.
The divorces took months. Daniel moved out, Mark rented another place, and our family slowly separated. Our daughter, Amy, also distanced herself from her father.
I never posted about what happened or tried to ruin anyone publicly. I simply stopped lying for them.
When people asked why our marriage ended, I told them the truth: Mark had an affair with Daniel’s wife.
