I finally said,
“I can’t forgive you for what you did. But your daughter does not deserve to suffer.”
The next morning, we went to the lawyer.
After studying the documents, he explained that Robert had organized an extremely risky investment, while hiding the most important information.
Then we found something even more scary.
When I checked our general finances, it turned out that Robert also tried to get a loan on bail of our house without putting me properly on notice.
He threatened both families.
That night, Robert returned.
Seeing me and Susan together, he was frozen in place.
“What is going on here?”
I looked him straight in the eye.
“Your two lies have finally met, Robert.”
He kept saying it was a misunderstanding.
But when Susan asked why he had hidden financial risks from her daughter, he couldn’t answer.
