My Neighbor Charged Her Electric Car From My House Every Night Without My Permission – I Didn’t Call the Authorities, but I Did Something Better to Teach Her a Lesson

The more he inspected, the more problems he found.

“I should’ve checked sooner,” he admitted.

I looked toward Monica’s house.

“So she’s moving?”

“Yes.”

That was karma’s second visit.

And this time, I hadn’t arranged anything.

Home & Garden

A month later, I sat on my porch drinking iced tea while a moving truck idled in Monica’s driveway.

Boxes disappeared into the back one after another.

Monica never looked toward me.

I didn’t wave.

I didn’t gloat.

There was no need.

My little  garden gnome stood proudly beside the mailbox, still wearing Monica’s terrible blue paint because I had decided not to remove it.

Gardening

The paint had become part of his story.

Maybe mine too.

For years, I believed being kind meant absorbing inconveniences without complaint.

I thought maintaining peace meant swallowing irritation, forgiving disrespect, and telling myself other people probably had good reasons for taking advantage of me.

But kindness without boundaries isn’t always kindness.

Sometimes it’s simply silence.

And silence can teach the wrong person that you’re willing to tolerate almost anything.

Monica thought the quiet widow next door would never object.

She was wrong.

The pink paint taught her I had finally found my voice.

Everything that happened afterward taught me something even better.

Sometimes you don’t need revenge.

You simply need to stop protecting people from the consequences of their own behavior.
