The last thing to go out was the patio furniture.
And that’s where it all came apart, because of what was under it.
There Was a Box Under the Patio Loveseat and I Should Not Have Opened It, and I Did
Underneath the outdoor loveseat on that patio — the one that cost two thousand three hundred dollars, the one I bought in 2023 — there was a plastic bin. The kind with the latching lid.
Rebecca kept pool chemicals and extra cushions in it. I knew that. I’d seen it a hundred times.
Walt pulled it out so he could get the loveseat on the dolly, and the lid came off because the latch was broken, and what was in it was not pool chemicals.
It was paper. A lot of paper, in file folders.
