“Why didn’t you ever tell me?”
My father remained silent for a long time.
Then he took out another document.
“Because three months ago, I received a phone call. And I haven’t slept peacefully since.”
“What phone call?”
He handed me an envelope.
Inside were the results of a DNA test.
Two names.
Mine.
And that of a girl I had never heard of.
Sophia Miller.
At the bottom of the document, it stated that we were biological twin sisters.
I held my breath.
“Dad… does this mean…”
He whispered,
“Your sister is alive.”
For a moment, I couldn’t even speak.
“But you said she died.”
“That’s what they told us. Years later, inconsistencies were discovered in old hospital records, and an investigation began. It turned out that your sister had been transferred to another hospital, but we had been given incorrect information. She was eventually adopted by another family.”
