“Please step outside.”
I immediately grabbed Robert’s hand.
“He’s not going anywhere alone.”
The man looked at me.
He stayed silent for a moment.
Then said,
“Fine. You come too.”
Robert stood up.
I saw that his knees were trembling slightly.
We stepped off the bus.
The cold mountain air hit my face.
They led us toward the small building.
By then, I was imagining the worst.
But when the door opened, there wasn’t a group of dangerous men inside.
There were three elderly men, one woman, and old maps spread across a table.
Robert stopped.
His face changed.
“Frank…”
An elderly man standing by the table looked up.
“Finally.”
I looked from one man to another in confusion.
“What is going on?”
Frank looked at Robert.
